August Events August 9th, 2008, 4pm... Impromptu Activity: Socializing & Dinner on Amici’s Patio On Saturday August 9th Jackie & Minde are hosting what we hope will be the first of many future DAWN impromptu activities. If there is something you are interested in doing and looking for others to join you, consider hosting one yourself. All it takes is posting a message about your impromptu activity to the DAWN yahoogroup like we have and showing up to greet those who show up. Activity:
We will be on the patio at Amici’s Pizza, (3249 12 Mile Road in Berkley) to hang out, enjoy cocktail hour and then have dinner (if its raining we’ll be inside). We will be there at 4pm when it opens. If you would like to join us, we recommend arriving around that time to make sure you get a seat, as this is a very popular and not very large restaurant.
If you haven’t been to Amici’s, it is a great pizza place (even has gluten free pizza) (City’s Best Pizza 2005-07 AOL City Guide) with a nice outdoor patio. As this is an impromptu activity, there is no need to RSVP, just show up and join us. If you have any questions, please email us at detroitwomyn@yahoo.com. | Fall 2008-Winter 2009 We will start back into having monthly activities in the fall. Our monthly gatherings at Roosevelt's will resume October 9th. We will be gathering the second Thursday of each month October through April, except in December when our meeting locale is too busy for us to get space. We also anticipate having at least one other event or activity each month (except December). A couple of this years events will be of the larger variety that require members to sign up and pay in advance. The remainder will take the form of impromptu activities. Impromptu Activities: When DAWN reformed in 2000 alot of the activities we did were impromptu in nature. We would like to do more of these and therefore are encouraging our members to consider hosting their own impromptu activities. All it takes is an interest in doing some activity and a desire to invite others. Then just post a message to the yahoogroup (detroitwomyn@yahoogroups.com), show up for the activity and greet those who join you. Impromptu activities are advertised via the yahoogroup 7-14 days in advance. Typically they are not advertised on the DAWN upcoming events page of the website.
